FAQs
Welcome to Common Ground Recovery’s FAQ page. We believe in meeting people with clarity, compassion, and transparency. If you don’t see your question here, please reach out—we’re always open to conversation.
What is Common Ground Recovery?
Common Ground Recovery Inc. is a Vermont-based nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering healing, dignity, and community for individuals impacted by addiction, trauma, and recovery. We offer trauma-informed outreach, public education, and peer-led support rooted in lived experience and ethical stewardship.
Does CGR have a physical location?
Not yet. CGR does not currently operate out of an official office space. We are actively fundraising and building relationships across Vermont with the goal of establishing our first peer-led, trauma-informed residence—a space designed to offer safety, healing, and empowerment. Updates will be shared as soon as we’re ready to open our doors.
Is CGR a registered nonprofit? How are donations used?
Yes—Common Ground Recovery Inc. is officially recognized as a nonprofit corporation under Vermont law, pursuant to the Vermont Nonprofit Corporation Act (Title 11B of the Vermont Statutes Annotated). The Vermont Secretary of State is authorized to register nonprofit entities under this statute.
Common Ground Recovery Inc. is also a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This means all financial gifts and in-kind donations to our organization are tax-deductible charitable contributions.
All donations directly support CGR’s mission: trauma-informed outreach, public education, community engagement, and the development of our first healing residence. We practice transparent stewardship and will publish financial summaries annually.
Who can access CGR’s support?
CGR serves individuals and families navigating recovery, trauma, and reintegration—regardless of background, income, or stage of healing. We believe recovery is a human right, and our outreach is designed to be inclusive, accessible, and emotionally safe.
How is CGR different from other recovery organizations?
We’re not a treatment provider—we’re a community steward. CGR centers peer leadership, emotional safety, and trauma-informed values. Our work is shaped by lived experience, ethical governance, and a commitment to transparency in everything we do.
Why does CGR focus so much on visual storytelling?
Because healing isn’t just clinical—it’s emotional. Every image, color, and design choice we make is intentional. We use visual storytelling to evoke hope, dignity, and belonging, helping people feel seen and connected before they even read a word.
How can I get involved?
There are many ways to support CGR:
Volunteer at events or help with outreach
Share your story or creative work
Partner with us as a local organization
Make a one-time or recurring donation
We welcome collaboration and community input. If you have an idea, we’d love to hear it.
Who leads CGR?
CGR is led by Founder and Executive Director Timothy Farr-Maccione, MBA, alongside a dedicated board of directors. Our leadership reflects lived experience, professional expertise, and a shared commitment to trauma-informed governance and community healing.
